To celebrate and recognize the
University Patron, Saint Thomas of Villanova, under whose values and inspiration we
practice our Augustinian mission.
To explore our commitment to our ideals as a Catholic
University in a reflective manner through Eucharist Liturgy, Academic Convocation and
Festival Celebration.
To officially open the academic school year through a renewal of our commitment to the
University. The opening will be conducted in a ceremonial manner which invokes the rituals
associated with the mission of the University life.
To bring together communally in a celebratory mode the many constituencies whose actions
and labor are the heart of Villanova University
To recognize in an official setting the
accomplishments of community members thereby proclaiming the standards and goals to which
we are called and challenged.
